Default STOP: c000007b error {Bad Image} - 06-13-2011, 11:01 PM

Some friends gave my daughter a Mini9 when they moved away. The battery doesn't charge and now it came up with this message:

STOP: c000007b error {Bad Image}
The Application or DLL \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\CSRSRV.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

We didn't get an installation diskette. Should I download the firmware and reload it for this issue, or try something else?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. there is NO firmware to reload
2. the only way to reload the OS is either through an external CD/DVD drive or you must copy an ORIGINAL Windows Install Disk (that you are licensed for) to a USB Flashdrive and boot from that (you must enable 'Legacy USB' in the BIOS 1st)
2a. you can also call Dell and buy a restore CD/DVD from them
3. is there a restore partition on the drive?...
4. at what point do you get that message..
5. what version of windows are you on XP or Win 7?

I see a few threads out on the web about this issue. One of the Windows files has been corrupted. To repair it you will need a valid Windows install CD.
