Default BSOD on a reformat - 05-03-2011, 06:37 PM

I'm trying to reformat my mini and when I boot from the CD it does its thing for a little then gives me the blue screen. I'm installing XP Home off of an external cd drive. My current version is XP Pro SP3.

Is your external drive powered independently (that is, not running solely off the Mini's USB power?) If not, and if your drive is capable of it, use a separate power source. I find that the USB power from the Mini 9 is often inadequate to run a USB CD drive and this can cause all sorts of odd symptoms.

Hi Holmes. I found my XP Pro disk and swapped them out and it worked fine so there must have been a problem with the XP Home cd.

My mini has been acting weird though after the fresh install. The standby shortcut on the keyboard doesn't work and when my battery went "critical" and the laptop went into sleep mode, I plugged it back into the charger and my touchpad was out of wack. I had to reset the computer and the settings came back.
