Default Weird keyboard issue - 03-05-2011, 07:06 PM

I have a strange one. My keyboard does not allow me to type the same key twice in a row without pausing for a few seconds. I have tried to adjust this through the control panel but have been unsuccessful. I have also tried troubleshooting this but it says it is working properly. Is there a driver I can reinstall? No drops or other bumps, it just started out of the blue.

Does a USB keyboard work correctly?

Does the onboard keyboard work correctly in BIOS setup? Does the onboard keyboard work correctly in an alternate OS? (like a Linux LiveCD)

The BIOS works fine, the USB has the same issue. I do not have an alternate OS

Then it's a software issue. Maybe an accessibility setting, like "StickyKeys", "FilterKeys", or somesuch. Try poking around in the Control Panel, or try these shortcuts:
Quote:
Accessibility shortcuts

* Press SHIFT five times: Toggles StickyKeys on and off
* Press down and hold the right SHIFT key for eight seconds: Toggles FilterKeys on and off
* Press down and hold the NUM LOCK key for five seconds: Toggles ToggleKeys on and off
* Left ALT+left SHIFT+NUM LOCK: Toggles MouseKeys on and off
* Left ALT+left SHIFT+PRINT SCREEN: Toggles high contrast on and off
