Recently the Dell Mini 9 presented the error message "Operating system not found" on powering up. Booted under the bios, SSD
recognized, but reads 0 Mb. Out of warranty, but contacted Dell to purchase a copy of XP. I plan to borrow an optical drive to attempt reloading OS but I am presuming the install process will glitch somewhere along the re-install. If my presumption bears out, is my best course of action to upgrade the SSD
? Anything I could/should do prior to incurring the expense to grant me some assurance the investment of $100 or so investment for a 32 GB SSD
in the unit is worth the risk? I hate to shelve/trash/recycle any unit so relatively young. I guess I am simply asking how I should proceed to get unit running again. From reading around I assume I could load XP onto a USB stick and run it from there, but I guess I am simply seeking assurance that a greater investment is worth the risk. My skill level in these matters is relatively low, but I consider myself quite capable of following fairly explicit instructions and I have a fairly strong diagnostically inclined mind. I offer my thanks in advance for any hep anyone may provide.
