Default My network controller is missing. Wifi wont work. - 11-06-2010, 08:00 AM

I recently swapped in a new SSD from another mini 9.... everything works, except the wifi. In the device manager the network controller seems to be missing.

edit: while I am at it... can someone point me in the direction of a howto that shows me how to backup my SSD? I want be able to recover from a boot sector failure (like the one I had a while ago) if I have another. I have an extra stock ssd now that I am not using that I am keeping in case the one I am using goes bad. Question: is it possible to copy my current ssd & clone it.... putting it on the backup ssd? Sorry, I dont know how to word it just right.

a program like Norton Ghost or Acronis Disk Manager will copy your data, but I dont know how you will do it, I dont think that they make an external housing for your type of SSD with the Mini PCIe adapter, as far as the Network controller goes, have you tried to delete the driver and reinstall it?

That would be Acronis TrueImage. Typically you'd make a backup image on an external device that could then be restored onto the SSD. Yes, there is an external case that takes the Mini 9's SSD and makes it connectable by USB. The RunCore SSDs have a USB port already.
