Unhappy Please help me! Dell Vostro A90 wont power up after RAM upgrade - 10-22-2010, 06:19 PM

Hey guys! Need some guidance.

I upgraded/attempted to upgrade the RAM on my mini vostro A90 from 1GB to 2 GB. I followed instructions from this thread
2gb RAM Upgrade Guide

But now the mini will NOT POWER UP. It makes a beeping sound when i turn on the power no nothing comes up. I figured maybe its not compatible so i replaced the RAM with its original 1GB but its doing the same thing ((
I dont know what else to do

double check all the connections, it sounds like something is not connected properly, also when you have the 2gb installed check the BIOS and see if the system sees the 2gb

It's beeping because it thinks there is no ram present.

Are you sure you have the ram seated properly? You don't have to push down very hard, but make sure the ram is nice and snug in the slot before you click it into place.

In a worst case scenario, the ram slot might have been damaged when you replaced the ram stick. I doubt this is the case, but if the problem continues, you might wanna give a call to dell support and see if they can repair it for you (I have no idea if the still do repairs/replacements for DM9/A90's)
