Default Mini 9 Charging Extremely Slow - 07-28-2010, 04:20 PM

I have a Dell Mini 9 (kind of obvious) that's about 2 years old if I remember correctly and it has worked fine up until recently my original battery stopped holding a charge for longer than 45 minutes.

So, I bought a new Dell battery from eBay, and it did not even charge. I sent it back and the guy sent me a 3rd party battery which did not charge either. I waited a few weeks and finally bought another genuine Dell battery; which worked -- it started to charge and I though all was well. Than, I noticed it was charging VERY slow, like it took hours to get to 5%. Than I turned it off, thinking I'd just let it charge while the computer was shut down and I noticed that only the power LED came on.

I left it for a bit and booted up the computer and low and behold the battery was still at 5%. I've had the computer plugged in for a number of days now and it's reached 75%. I was hoping that someone might have some ideas for how to get this thing charging up to normal... So far I've tried a friends AC adapter & battery and flashing the BIOS (twice), all to no avail.

try taking out the battery and unplug the AC power and hold the power button for about 20-30 seconds then put everything back..I read somewhere that this might reset the charging circuits in the Mini..not positive might only be for the Mini 10's, but in either case it cant hurt nothing......

Thanks for the tip and the welcome! I've done what you suggested and in a little while, I'll be able to tell if it worked or not. Thanks again.
