My 64 GB STEC drive failed last weekend and was replaced under warranty.
I have the original drive because (I am quite impressed by this, BTW) Dell returned it with the Mini 9 "for data recovery". I am supposed to send it back to them within 10 days.
Here's the question: Is it possible/practicable to recover the data?
While the dead drive was still installed, the bios was no longer reporting a 64 GB stec drive, but a 7 GB drive that was identified only by a series of letters and numbers. When I booted from a key, I could see an unmounted 7 GB drive in the disk utility, but I could not mount it or format it.
Before I ship it back, does anyone know if there is any non-heroic method to access the data?
