Default cup of tea over mini = dead. can i use the ssd elsewhere - 03-29-2010, 03:35 PM

hi, anyone know if it's possible to use the ssd from the mini9 in something else. i quite fancied seeing if i could get it to run in my popcorn hour through sata. that is of course on the presumption that it still works. cup of tea poured over the mini whilst it was on and plugged in and now it's totally dead!

Aside from the Runcore USB enclosure and the Mini 9 itself, I'm not aware of any device which'll accept a Mini 9 SSD.

As for running it via SATA, Mini SSDs are PATA/IDE. While PATA-SATA is possible, I'm not even aware of anyone who has adapted a Mini 9 SSD to work via a normal PATA/IDE connection.

Like reflex said above, your best bet is another Mini 9, or a RunCore USB enclosure, if you want a small & fast external drive.

You might be able to use it in a EeePC 9xx series, but I believe the Mini 9 SSDs are smaller in height (50mm vs 80mm).

Sold my Mini 9 for a larger netbook, one that's easier on my wrists and hands.
Current Machine: 2010 MacBook Pro 13", 2.4 GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, Win7 Pro x64/OS X 10.6.3

And I play with my girlfriend's Mini 10v ^_^.

Interested in using MATLAB on the Mini 10v? Check out my benchmarks!

An EeePC won't work as it uses a SATA interface.

oh well, worth a try i suppose!
i did find a device that plugs into the pcie on your desktop motherboard that will convert it to sata or pata but that's of no use to me and not really cost effective
