Default EBIOS read error - 01-30-2010, 04:03 PM

Hey everyone,

Im having issues with my mini9 booting up. The power indicator still blinks but it holds a charge and this message runs down the screen 4 times.

EBIOS read error: media error Block 0xa73e0 Sectors 0

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem when attempting to boot from the SnoLeo disk for the first time. I have already ripped the DVD and burned it again and i have also put its content on a harddrive and attempted to boot from it. Always the same behaviour.

Could you be so kind and give us a bit more information how we could fix that using your link?

The instructions at that link assume you have a working Linux or MacOS system you can use to do the recovery for. Can you get into the BIOS menu at all?

So if I can still access the BIOS, should I be concerned with trying to recover it this way?

I am getting a similar EBIOS error. Media error Block Oxa8200 sectors 0.

I can still access the BIOS and boot order at startup.
I have tried booting from a flash drive with netbook bootmaker, and from external dvd using the netbook cd.
In both instances I get the same error.
If I let it startup directly to the SSD it just sits there with a cursor.
I had snow leopard up and running fine for a couple of months, then all the sudden had a freeze and manual shutdown; never started back up.

Ok, so I flashed the BIOS. I know it worked because it's now A05 instead of A04.
Unfortunately, when I try to run my boot disks I get the same result...
Any thoughts?

I don't think "EBIOS" has anything to do with the Mini's BIOS. It is something on the disk and appears to be Mac OS specific. There are threads on this in the Mac OS section of the forum.

Thanks!
I'll do some more searching in the OSX forum, but what I've found so far are a lot of questions but no answers... can't stop trying though!
