Default Runcore 32 - 01-29-2010, 10:05 PM

This week my hard drive started to misbehave, I was travelling and the computer would just switch off and then apps (Firefox) and other apps started to slow down.. Finally the Runcore crashed, this the second time and its about 2 months since the first time.. If I reboot it goes as far as F8 but I cannot get beyond this point with XP.. The screen is there with all the options from safe mode to loading a pervious restore.. But nonw work.. If I use the usb cable and try to look at the hardrive it records nothing present.. Any ideas how I can break in and get few import files before I reformat it..

If you connect the drive with USB and don't see anything, then something is seriously wrong with the drive. If you got as far as the Windows boot options, at least the MBR is ok. But otherwise you may have lost the files. I would not trust this drive anymore. Contact the seller about a warranty replacement.

I bought it from Portable Storage, Media Viewers, CompactFlash, Secure Digital, SDHC, SD Cards, and SSD!.. But I cannot recall how I did it. It seems to me that the drive is very susceptible to voltages.. As type this email on my old stec 8gig

I would like to warn folks here that the critical data on your mini 9 should be stored on a the sd card .. I am fortunate that I installed an 8 gig sd and I have been using this remote drive to maintain all my business information and most documents.

The c drive has mainly been used to run programs.. so I am not furious at this situation as I recovered with a small loss of data.. But I am not looking to add a 32 gb remote sd drive and accept that the ssd drives are still risky, I am not sure what others think

I have had a 64GB RunCore SSD for a year now and it has been trouble-free. But I don't trust ANY single storage medium and always have backups - sometimes more than one.

To be honest, I find SD cards less reliable than SSDs. At least I've lost data on SD cards but not on SSDs.
