Default keyboard to uk - 01-25-2010, 03:09 PM

Hi I have a dell mini 9, it was working fine until i had to send it back for repair. When i got it back, I changed the language settings so the the @ sign would be in the right place. Unfortunately the opening braces, closing braces and hash key were not working. So after a long conversation to dell they collected the laptop to replace the keyboard.

I have got it back and I have the same problem I have been on the phone to dell trying to fix the language settings but it just does not seem to work. The opening, closing brackets, the hash key and the backslash aren't working.

I have looked at several forum posts on key remapping and i have the file for the uk keyboard but i am on xp and dont seem to have System Preferences or know how to do it at all.

Can someone tell me how to sort this in simple terms please.

Thanks very much

Try this:

Shut down the Mini.
Disconnect the AC adapter.
Hold down the Fn and K keys.
Reconnect the AC adapter
Release the keys.

This sets the BIOS keyboard map to UK (also used for US-International)
