Default virtual memory and other problems - 11-11-2009, 09:29 PM

Ok, so I've been having a problem with the virtual memory. I know how to check the process tab, and see whats causing it, but it's different everytime. I don't know if this is related, but sometimes when I'm using the web browser, it will just shut down for no reason, or it wont open up when i click on it, or I'll get the message that "a script couldn't load due to virtual memory shortage" or something like that, and then the page loads funny. Also, if I'm usuing my chat client (pigin) it will just shut down with no explination. I usually dont have a lot of stuff running at once, but I really don't know what the problem is. I'm quite frustrated and thought about just deleting everything and reinstalling everything, but I dont want to go there yet. (ps, i have all my music and pics on an external harddrive, so i know thats not causing it)

any help you can give would be great. I'm extremely frustrated.

Am I correct in guessing you're running Windows? Which version of Windows? XP?

Try this - right click on My Computer, select Properties, Advanced. In the Performance section, click Settings, then the Advanced tab. How much paging file space does it say it has?

How much free space is there on your SSD? How much RAM do you have?
