Can't say - there is a thread in the Win7 forum where some people claimed that a beta of Win7 killed their SSD. I have not seen much of this from OS X users and can't imagine what mechanism would be at work here.

I did as you said, booted into the Win 7 installer, fired up diskpart (the way to do that btw is to type Shift-F10 at the installer to get to a command prompt), tried to clean but it gave me an i/o error, so I think the drive is broken. I will take a photo of the drive before I send it back in to Dell just so they won't send me back the same re-partitioned drive, as I suspect they have done when I sent it in previously.

there must be a Windows COA (the serial number on the bottom). you can get help according to it.
