Default Vostro A90 - No audio Ubuntu NR 9.04, No WIFI Moblin 2.1 - 09-29-2009, 10:57 AM

I have a Vostro A90, Bios A05 and the audio does not work in Ubuntu Remix 9.04 and the WIFI does not work on Moblin 2.1. For the sound, I found others with the issue as well, but not really a solution. Can anybody help me with either of these? Has it worked for others? Or am I waisting my time? I would like to test out Moblin, but without WIFI, its kind of worthless to me. Please be as specific as possible. I am not completely new to linux, I can make my way around, but details are always helpful!! Thank you

Default Remove Pulse Audio - 10-01-2009, 01:17 AM

For the sound issue, remove the Pulse Audio. Check out this article:Ubuntu on the Dell Mini 9: Search results for pulse

Regarding WiFi....I don't have an issue with Ubuntu 9.04.

Regards,

Mike

I did remove the Pulse Audio, I had actually found that article yesterday, but it still did not help in 9'04. Once I upgraded to the 9.10 version, it worked, not sure why it didn't work before, but it does now. I actually just installed Jolicloud, which is largely based off of Ubuntu NR 9.04 and the audio and everything worked after updating. Thanks for the reply.

Removing PulseAudio is a bit extreme in my opinion.
This thread has a couple fixes that worked for me:
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty on Dell A90 - some fixes
On 9.10, I only had to append "options snd-hda-intel model=dell" to my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to get sound working.

I also own a Vostro 90. With the Vostro BIOS sound and some other things didn't work at all in Moblin. I flashed the Dell Mini9 BIOS (same hardware as Vostro 90) and most parts work fine with Moblin v2.1. Wifi only works by using this guide: Dell mini 9
