Powerfeng 77wh batterytimes very much reduced recently :( - 09-17-2009, 11:22 PM
So,I posted over in the upgrades section but noone seems to read that battery thread there so here goes:
My powerfeng 77wh has recently been playing up and not giving me as good times as it used to. Last night I tested it with battery eater and ran a benchmark, fullscreen, high performance profile without screen turning off etc..
here are results:
compared to what they used to be this is terrible.
When I initially got the battery, my benchmark looked near identical to these:
8 Cells "77Wh" Battery is Here!
but now it;s seriously degraded from how you can see in the graph..I will be doing some more testing to see if I can narrow down the problem but had anyone else encountered this yet on their powerfeng??

didnt i already post this here once. discharging it completely (depending on the battery circuity) can END its life by hitting the cut off level. OEM dell batteries are probably safe to do this to, but these chinese ones, I would much rather just run it to 1-2% than risk it turning off and never coming back on...
"A discharge below 2.5V/cell may put the battery's protection circuit to sleep, preventing a recharge with a regular charger. These batteries can be restored with the Boost program available on the Cadex C7000 Series battery analyzers.
Some lithium-ion batteries feature an ultra-low voltage cut-off that permanently disconnects the pack if a cell dips below 1.5V. A very deep discharge may cause the formation of copper shunt, which can lead to a partial or total electrical short. The same occurs if the cell is driven into negative polarity and is kept in that state for a while.
Manufacturers rate the lithium-ion battery at an 80% depth of discharge. Repeated full (100%) discharges would lower the specified cycle count. It is therefore recommended to charge lithium-ion more often rather than letting it discharge down too low. Periodic full discharges are not needed because lithium-ion is not affected by memory. "
