my mini makes zero noise. as confirmed by 2 sets of ears. :lol:

doubtfull it's the actual display as the mini9 uses an led backlight, unlike most other notebooks that use a ccft driven by an inverter, the inverter drives the ccft with a high voltage and sometimes they can buzz or whistle.

My guess is background noise from the speakers, tbh i think the mini9 has a feature where it disables the speaker drivers when there's no sound to kill any background hiss. I noticed this through the 'click' sound that xp plays when you click the mouse on certain links etc. If you disable this sound (under Sound & Audio Devices, Program Events, 'Start Navigation') it will mean unless your actually playing something the speakers should be silent
