Default Bluetooth GPS receiver - 07-20-2009, 09:05 PM

I have a Mini9 with a correctly Bluetooth usb card installed (paired with my HTC Diamond, my laptop, my headset) but it doesn't seem to provide recognition for the Bluetooth GPS receiver: using the Wizard the device is recognized (BT GPS), but it can't pair, getting the message 'Not supported'.
The devise works fine in MS Windows OS. Does anyone know how to set up a connection like this? Thanks in advance.

ok, i'm winging it here, but since no one else seems to have anything for you yet, i do have one little thing to offer:

there are different types of data on bt, each with their own standard. i've encountered the same thing with a bt keyboard. you have to be sure that the bt controller and s/w stack support the type of data payload you're trying to move. more here:

thanks for your post... then.... IT WORKS! :-)
my GPS device uses Serial Port Profile (SPP) based on RFCOMM: I thought that perhaps was a problem of RFCOMM configuration in Ubuntu...
$ hcitool scan
Scanning ...
   00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx   BT GPS
$ sudo sdptool browse 00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx
Browsing 00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx ...
but nothing more... sdptool should give me the service, the channel, ...!!!
so I edited /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf:
rfcomm1 {
# Automatically bind the device at startup
bind no;
device 00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx;
channel 1;
comment "BT GPS";
$ sudo rfcomm connect 1 00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx
Connected /dev/rfcommm1 to 00:0A:3A:xx:xx:xx on channel 1
cat /dev/frcomm1
shows NMEA sentences!!! :-)
