| On the subject of the RAM speed in the mini, here is a question for you techies out there (I'm probably being dense); I've read here that the mini only supports speeds up to 533mhz. Now, I have DDR2-800 RAM in my Dell Dimension 8400 and in that machine (I think because of the motherboard) the RAM speed is capped at 533Mhz When I run CPU-Z on my Dell Dimension 8400 it says, in the 'Memory' tab that the DRAM Frequency is 266MHz (i.e. doubling up to 533Mhz). (the SPD section does describe DDR2-800/PC2-6400 capabilities, but I realise the machine will not be able to use these to the max). When I run CPU-Z on my mini 9, it says, in the 'Memory' tab that the DRAM Frequency is 333MHz. So my question is, what is going on here. If the Mini supposedly downclocks the DRAM Frequency to 266MHz, why do I not get the same results as for my downclocked RAM in my Dell Dimension? Of course, I've probably misunderstood something basic about how RAM works, but this has puzzled me ![]()

For a longer answer, Google "CL4 vs CL5" I would go with name brand CL5 memory with good compatibility and +ve user ratings. |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820148201 They'll arrive later this week, and I'll report back. ottoman1384, did you end up with a replacement unit? How'd it go? |

| Haven't received the RAM yet, but I did notice on another post concerning the WWAN slot there is an identical Crucial 2GB SO-DIMM installed: http://mydellmini.com/forum/wwan-slot-t415.html#p4032 So that would strongly suggest, ottoman1384, that your RAM is compatible, but bad. Not sure when my RAM is coming in yet, Newegg is shipping with DHL from Jersey, so it shouldn't take too long. |

| I upgrade from 1GB to 2GB and saw zero improvement. At 1GB with a bunch of stuff open and running I still wasn't coming close to using all 1GB of ram. Its the Atom that is slow as hell. Brought the 2GB stick back to the store. |
