| All good stuff. Thank you everyone. i think my biggest problem with slowness right now is AVG. Anyone know if norton is faster? I've also started another thread for speed tweaks. Just got it, so havent had a chance to really start tweaking yet. |

| Put in the 2gig tonight. Mini is noticibly faster. Enlarged the page file from 200 to 1000. Guess i'll be looking to get a bigger SSD next. LOL. Going to try to tweek Outlook to get it to speed up. I know there's alot you can turn off in that bloater. Will most likely take off AVG and go Norton, I know AVG is slowing down Outlook alot and I dont wat to go without protection. |

| Hi there ![]() I have a mini 9 16GB on order from Dell Canada and I have a question about upgrading the ram. After a few google searches it would seem that I coulkd use pc2-5300 2GB or pc2-5400 2GB ram both at 667mhz. Is one better suited for this machine ? Will it really run at 667mhz or will the netbook cap it at 533mhz? If it does cap, is there any way to make the machine run it at 667mhz ? Can't wait to get my hands on it (first order of business is correcting America and Canada's short comings by installing my eu850d 3g HSDPA wwan card into the wifi slot to actually make it worth owning in my opinion). thanks for the help ! |

| My Mini shipped with a PC2-6400 (800MHz) DIMM! As far as I know, the processor and chipset will max out at 533MHz - faster RAM won't make a difference.

| A lot of you guys are talking about upgrading the RAM for speed purposes, but in the 14 pages of this thread I have not seen one person mention anything about installing, for example, Tiny XP, which would be (I think) faster with 512MB of RAM, than the XP that the mini 9 ships with and 2GB of RAM. So definitely upgrading to 2GB RAM and installing Tiny XP would make your system super fast. That's my plan and I'll let you know how it goes.

| I plan on dual-booting TinyXP and Windows 7. Word is that Windows 7 works very nicely with netbooks so I'm looking forward.
