| No, and actually, if you read the fine print on Dell's battery life tests, they claim they conducted the test with 2gb of ram. Very odd, since they don't offer 2gb as an option.. heh..

| very new and waiting for my mini 9.... with ubuntu, 512mb, 4gb ssd... will upgrade one thing at a time. ![]() i read the whole thread and i kinda understood most of it... my question is... if i put in 2gb (the bios will recognize it and the os won't) will it cause any malfunction? reason for asking is i'm planning of upgrading to xp later on and i don't want to buy 1gb for ubuntu now and another 2gb later for xp.

| I sold my gig to a friend for his Dell™ Latitude™ D520 for $5 less then I paid for my Crucial. I doubled, he tripled, were both happy. Cant tell if the 2 gigs helps, but gimp crashed twice with 1 gig, 0 times w/2 so far. It is to my mini what red paint is to a corvette

| Will I notice a really great difference when upgrading from 1GB to 2GB of RAM? This won't fry my motherboard or anything, correct? -Mark [DmFlyerMark]

![]() I like having a large tmpfs, storing log files, cache for firefox and other programs, photo editing, etc.. so it makes a big difference for me, and I think I spent about $20, pretty easy decision. It certainly should not fry your motherboard. |

| Dear all, stumble on to this site while searching for Mini 9 (8GB SSD version with built in HSDPA) user group and am i glad that u guys are here. Cheers. I got my mini 9 free with tie up contract from my mobile broadband provider and am very happy with it especially the built in HSDPA modem that makes searching for hotspot a history. Now i can gladly go online in anywhere i want except on the train going underground. So far i have to say mini 9 is a great companion but i'm getting use to using a slow system now... especially the lag when i open up too much tab on IE7 with MSN on video chat and Outlook in brackground... I keep on getting Virtual memory too low pop up error. may i ask will upgrading to 2GB ram eliminate this annoying error? I have my page file set as defualt at 200MB, running Win XP Home Edition... also, can i remove the annoying defualt Video Chat programme from DELL? it's quite annoying waiting for the mini 9 to boot up and waiting for this Dell video software to be ready in bootup running in background. Will removing this Video Chat software rendered my built in camera useless? Thanks in advance |

| I let the system manage the size. It'll take up much more space on your SSD though, so be prepared for that.
