| When I had my 9 apart last night, I noticed the slot where the bluetooth cable connects didn't have the retaining clip that will hold the ribbon cable in place. How is everyone getting around that problem?

| OK, after about two hours of dealing with dell, I finally got my internal bluetooth ordered. Having learned a few important things about the process, I figure sharing the knowledge would be best, for both yours and Dell's sakes) First off, you must order the part through Dell Sales, and not through tech support. I know tech support may have worked for some of you, but here's why: The J613H P/N only works through tech support, and they can't sell it by itself. I originally spoke to a sales rep who couldn't locate that part number anywhere from the tools available on her computer, so I asked to be transfered. I then dealt with a tech support guy who knew what I was talking about and while willing, he couldn't sell me the part (the computer wouldn't let him, not by choice). I then spoke with his supervisor who explained that Sales and Tech support worked off of different P/N systems and while he could upsell things like hard drives and memory, his system wouldn't let him ring me up for P/N J613H. He suggested that I speak to a sales rep... Obviously I was getting a little ticked at this point (This is about 2.5 hours after I started this process). I spoke to another sales rep and supplied the 430-3221 part number and she pulled it up and instantly knew what it was and I bought it. I got this part number off an invoice for a mini 9 I custom ordered but then I canceled it and bought a prebuilt off the dell outlet on the cheap. However, there is one thing that I found out that hasn't been posted yet (to my knowledge, anyhow) There are two modules available. The 360 module (Class 1 ~100 meter range) and the 355 module (Class 2 ~10 meter range). The 355 is 19.99 and the 360 is 28.99 (shipping is the same for both). The 355 is the only one that ships from dell when you buy a mini, so I probably would have ended up replacing it anyways after finding out there is a class 1 option available... Hope this helps! EDIT: I just got my confirmation email and the new P/N for the 360 is: 430-2735 Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Module for Latitude, Customer Install (Both of the tech support guys were hesitant to even discuss the part until I confirmed that I was willing and able to install it myself, which may be why they don't advertise the part.)

| The 360 comes right up when you search for it on Dell's website: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... 5#Overview Don't even have to deal with a rep. What I wonder is, does this come with the correct cable? For that little I'm basically willing to just order it and find out. Quote:

| Dell sales tells me the P/N for the 360 above does NOT come with a cable. Is there anything special about the Mini 9 cable? There are TONS of 360s on EBay with cables for cheaper than what Dell sells them. For example: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Dell-Truemobile ... 240%3A1318

| Well I found someone who knows what it is. The key that I was apparently missing was that I had to CALL, as the chat line people have no idea (the Tech Support Chat person I spoke with told me as much). I spoke with Shai at 18003573355 ext 7244161 and she helped me out. $27.86 shipped for the Mini 9 specific BT card. Estimated ship date of the 14th. Woohoo!!!

| I was successful at ordering the proper Bluetooth module as well earlier today from Dell and it should ship within 24 hours. Since I have been reading these forums, I thought I would see how many I could get to help a few more members out here since it seems I was not the only one having issues getting access to this part. Well, I was told I could order (2), but no more at this time. Maybe this is a way they are keeping inventories under control so I didn’t argue the point and just said, "OK". So, I have one for me and I have an extra on the way for anyone who needs it. All I ask is that you split the shipping and tax I paid to Dell. In other words, I will offer the extra Mini 9 Bluetooth module for $28 delivered anywhere within the USA via first class mail with delivery confirmation. Priority Mail would be a few bucks more. If interested, PM me. Thanks again for the info posted in this thread and I look forward to sharing my Mini 9 experiences on this forum. Scott- |

| It would be interesting to compare one of the cables available on EBay with the cables that comes with our Mini 9 specific BT cards, size and pinout, to see if they're compatible.

| In case anyone is wondering... The Dell rep that sold me the 360 told me it was 100% compatible with the mini 9. In fact, I asked for the 430-3221. She was the one that brought it up. The tech support supervisor that I spoke with explained that the J613H P/N was for the card only and the 430-3221 P/N includes the cable and screws. I assume it is the same for the 360. She did pull my service tag and I told her that my mini didn't come with BT originally... Regardless, I will be calling the rep back tomorrow morning to verify. I can't imagine they would sell it without the cable. Also, since it is being questioned and I have already ordered it, I will report back with whether or not it comes with the cable when I get it. in a few days.

Just so you know the 355 and 360 Will NOT work for the mini. The 360 and 355 are the bluetooth that goes in systems such as XPS machines and Lats as well a vostros. The module its self is to big to fit in the system not only that the dell mini bluetooth has a cable attached the the module and the others do not. And the cable will not connect to the mini. Trust me I know. THIS PICTURE IS THE 355/360 ![]() THis is the mini bluetooth So if you really ordered the 355/360 you got the wrong part. And you are correct tech support can not order you parts. I am dell tech support. But sales can look up part numbers. As i posted before Dell sales people are dumb, If you do not get the part number from a agent ask to change agents.
