Do you mean these two threads? From what I can gather the person who "damaged" his card reader tried to use an MS Pro Duo in the slot without an adapter (which is a bit silly). I've tried an original MS and now an MSPD with adapter, both of which are fully supported and shouldn't cause any damage when used sensibly. And the person using MS in Ubuntu was not using the Dell kernel (with built-in drivers) hence his issues. I've just been on the phone with Dell support who used some funky remote software to reinstall an older version of the chipset drivers (?!) and attempt to flash to the latest BIOS which I already had  they told me to test it for a while and see what happens... not going to hold my breath! Thanks, Suman P.S. Yes, obviously I have the reader enabled in the BIOS otherwise I would not be able to install drivers and access it in the first place, hehe ![]()

| Hi, I reloaded XP with SP3 and got the HD space down to 5 gigs. Problem is the drivers don't load. Keeps saying I am missing 'scripting runtime' for several of the drivers and also none of the drivers for the wireless are working. They all say, 'no hardware supported for this driver.' Not quite sure what I did wrong? Help appreciated by anyone. Thanks JS |

Is it showing up in Device Manager? You may want to post this in the Hardware Issues/Problems thread for more visibility.

| Hi, I will put my original question there but to continue here for a sec. I got several of them to load by playing around but I still don't have wireless. I have Broadcom 802.11g there and Realteck RTL2102 family there and then one 'unknown device' which I assume is the dell wireless but I can't find the driver it wants and I basically went through them all. I go to "C and then Dell and each of the device drivers and all of them say it is not for this device. I am close but no cigar yet. Jhampa |

| Hey, Quick update to my problem from earlier (I know this is OT, but since I mentioned it earlier...!) - got my Mini9 back from the Dell service place today - there's a little note attached saying they replaced the motherboard. Guess it was a hardware fault after all! ![]() Cheers, Suman

| Ok, got my Mini 9 and started the odyssey of XP/OSX on the same unit. Got XP loaded and started to install the drivers. Installed the battery meter but is there a hotkey or something to activate the meter? Right now, it only tells me the % left and not the time left. I looked in Add/Remove Programs and the driver is installed but I don't see any option to activate the driver. Is there a hotkey or something that I need to hit? Thanks.

| The Dell Battery Meter is different from the applet built in to Windows (whuch appears in the System Tray) which shows remaining battery power. The Dell program does not appear in the System Tray, or anywhere for that matter, unless you press Fn+3, which will bring up the following: battery1.JPG[/attachment:1fr5tsf0]battery2.JPG[/attachment:1fr5tsf0] If pressing Fn+3 doesn't do anything (within Windows), then it's not installed properly; you may need to reboot or reinstall. |

Is this a XP function or a Dell driver function? Thanks.
