I have installed before, but will do a clean install of nLited XP Home sp3 and have a few questions on the drivers

Q. Why when I install all drivers do I have three of those computer icons on the bottom right hand corner of my screen - they all seem the same to me, the newbie!

Q. I get this error when windows starts up:

RTHDCPL.EXE - Unable To Locate Compoment
This application has failed to start because HHCTRL.OCX was not found. Re-installing the aplication may fix the problem.

Even though I have tried installing driver from Dell site using code to locate exact model and also from Realtek website. Solvable?

The first one is "Wireless LAN", meaning WiFi. The second one is simply "LAN", meaning the wired network adapter, i.e., the socket on the right side that looks like a phone jack. The circuitry for these devices are in completely different places, and they're made by different companies, which is why they each have their own driver.

The last 3 which say "HSPA" are for the WWAN card. Most people who bought the Mini 9 did not pay the extra $150 (or whatever) to get the WWAN card. The WWAN card allows you to put a cellphone SIM card in your laptop, so you can get internet access on your Mini 9 through your providers cellular network (e.g., AT&T, Vodaphone, etc.). If you do not have the WWAN card in your computer, you do not need to install those last 3 programs.

Those each represent a network adapter. One is for the wired "LAN" adapter, one for the WiFi, & the 3rd one might be a Bluetooth network adapter or something else. Many people will never use anything but WiFi, & don't care about the other network capabilities of the computer. You can remove these from view (or anythng else in the System Tray you don't want to see) by Right-clicking on the Start button -> Properties -> Taskbar tab -> Customize -> select "Always hide" for the entries you want to be hidden.

Since Synaptics makes the touchpad, they make their own driver for it. It's supposed to have more "features." If the touchpad works to you satisfaction without their driver, feel free to do so. Many people do that.

On my computer, HHCTRL.OCX is present in C:\WINDOWS\system32

cookiemonster, nice one! Clears up all my particular issues with drivers in one post - thanks a lot!

The last problem with the HHCTRL.OCX, which I have been unable to locate, is probably caused by my (own) nLited version of XP which I also trying to solve in my thread here (feel free to input ur knowledge here, by all means!). No major issues as of yet, but hopefully when I reinstall all will be ok.

no the only benifit is that you ca n disable tap to click, which stops you knocking the pad wilst typing and moving the mouser pointer

unsure why you are getting this error, if its not too much hassle (and i should know i re-nlited my mini 14 timees till i was happy with it), redo you nlite build and slip in these slimmed down drivers

That is actually quite annoying - if I dont get used to the keyboard, i might install for that reason alone.

i just reformatted my mini 9 and installed everything back however my wifi is not working.. im showing a error message 871122, i tried microsoft.com and support.dell.com.. and its still doing the same thing..i followed and did everything, im lost and dont know what to do.. please help me.. thanks!

Is this the WLAN driver? Can anyone report that it works? And what's the difference between this and the one on HP's site (for XP, anyway)?
