I have Windows XP Home on my Vostro..

I get between 3hrs. 15 mins. to 3 hrs. 30 mins.. Have you checked the brightness of the screen..?? I have it half the way.. More than enough brightness..

The power settings on the Wireless card also affect battery life.. I am not familiar with Mac so I wouldn't know where to start looking..

Maybe somebody on the Mac section of the forum can help.. However, I'm not sure if any simple change in settings will practically double the battery life you're getting.. Strange issue..

I'm getting 3-4 hours on my Dell Mini 9 with Mac OS X 10.5.7 just web browsing and chatting.

If I'm doing any heavy lifting, such as graphics or playing a movie, I get about 2-3 hours.

This is all with the stock 3-cell(?) battery.

You should definitely be getting more than an hour and a half on your Dell Mini. I've seen some people report issues with bad batteries, so you might want to check that out.

I get around 4-4.5 hours if I am surfing and listening music. Brightness set all the way down. If I am watching movies with GOM I get around 3 hours.

Thanks, Zion.

Some more detail:
- watched Legend of the Seeker Episode 1 yesterday (about an hour and a half) on Hulu, charge went from full to around 50%
- watched 3 episodes of The Daily Show on iTunes (around 20m each), charge around 8-10% before I plugged it in
- probably could have squeezed another half our out of the battery if I just did web browsing

i thought i read somewhere that some of the bat. dell shipped werent the right cell advertised....denoted by a "k" on the bat.?
cant find the link, there were 2 kinds that came out....i got the cheap one, of course.

all i could find;

Battery capacity In January, it was suspected that some units were shipping with 24 watt-hour capacity batteries, labeled as 32 watt-hour. The low-capacity batteries appear to be those manufactured in Tokyo.[20] However it was later determined that the software used to examine the batteries was incorrectly reporting the capacity and has since been reported to be fixed with an upgrade of the BIOS.[21][22]

guess that doesnt represent cell number....

3.5-4.5 hrs depending on what im doing

and btw the mini 9 has always shipped with 4 cell batteries... the whole KR 24whr battery thing was just because the reporting software couldnt figure out the new batteries... with the latest A05 bios everything is where it should be.
