Default External Battery - good fit - 11-16-2008, 07:38 PM

While we wait for Dell or a 3rd party to release a 6 cell battery for the Mini, I have been looking at various options for an external laptop battery, since I need to work for a good 8 hours away from power at a time. The optimum for me would be to have a flat pad that fits under the Mini with approximately the same dimensions. I have found one that matches almost the dimensions of the Mini (232mm x 172 mm). The pack is 6000mAh and comes in at 230mm x 165mm and from what I can tell will power out 19v, as well as having a USB output in case I need to charge phones, Ipods etc...

If someone could advise whether it will hurt the Mini, whether the Output Power/Amps etc is OK, I know nothing about these, and more importantly whether one of the connectors will fit. It mentions Dell in the compatibility list, several Inspirons and Latitudes but no mention of the Mini - probably because the Mini is new! Are all these Dell power sockets the same????

Would appreciate anyones input. Thanks.

Just found it cheaper here:

I haven't a clue if it will decide whether to work for you or not, but I'd be very interested in the results if you do go through with it.

Wow. It sure looks like it would work. It'll deliver 19 volts, and has plenty of capacity.

I don't know how the power is connected to it, but if you can get it to terminate in a type "M" coaxial plug wired tip positive it looks like you've got a winner.
