Default Faulty display fresh out of the box :( - 06-04-2009, 10:18 PM

I managed to pick up a WWAN Mini 9 from the UK Outlet last week and have eagerly awaited its arrival, but straight out of the box it seems the display is faulty.

The LCD has a yellow hue, all whites appear as yellow and and it looks like its running 256 colours, even at bios level it doesn't look right.

I've tried reseating the LVDS cable on the motherboard, but chickened out when it came to taking the LCD surround off to reseat the monitor end.

So do I have another go at taking it apart and reseat the monitor end or do you think its more serious and I need to phone tech support and RMA the whole thing.

Really don't want the hassle of phoning tech support and sending it back...

Spoke to tech support yesterday, as the display was faulty on arrival they are sending an engineer to me on Monday

Result! I deal with Dell tech support through work and was expecting to be jumping through hoops

I would guess the small connector to the display from the system board has popped out slightly in transit.

Hopefully your engineer should be able to pop it back in and all will be ok.

Thats what I thought, but tried re-seating them all before phoning Dell, what dreading have to jump through hoops, but I have to say they were really good.

Engineer arrived a 9:30 this morning, swapped the LCD and all cables, really pleased
