Default Now that Mini 9s are being discontinued, what will happen to the Runcore SSD? - 05-31-2009, 08:46 PM

Will price fall or drop? Or stay the same until they sell out?

I am not looking for one since I am happy with my stock HD

No, Mini PCI-e SSDs will not work the same way for the Mini 10v as they do for the Dell Mini 9.

RunCore isn't going anywhere. There will be plenty of folks who will want their SSDs. Plus, the RunCore Pro IVs look very nice for Mini 10 owners. Prices may fluctuate a tad, but I think they'll be just fine.

oh, i guess i need to rephrase my question: what will happen to runcore SSDs that are designed for mini 9s specifically? now that production of mini9s has been severed, any runcore SSDs in stock will be in excess, no?

I don't think so ... at least not right away. Keep in mind, the Vostro A90's are exactly like the Mini 9's too and as of today, DELL is still selling them. They could benefit by a RunCore install as well.

What, you think that suddenly people with Mini 9s and Vostro A90s won't be in the market for faster or larger SSDs? Eventually I would guess that production will ramp down, but there's a large potential customer base - witness the competition entering the market - so I would imagine the product will be available for some time to come.

If you're hoping for a "fire sale", dream on... Consider that PATA hard drives haven't dropped significantly in price compared to SATA models, even though demand for them has fallen off.
