The problem even occurs on other operating systems. It's not a software problem.

Could someone try it with the new bios?

I dont think anyone is gonna upgrade unless someone else confirms that theres an added feature worth upgrading to. I am still on A00 waiting on either SD Card boot(heard this was impossible, not sure) or a Video memory upgrade. I dont feel like chancing a brick unless theres something worth bricking for.

Reminds me a few years back being in the PSP scene. Of course, nowadays, people just release custom firmwares for the PSP, now if only someone could hack a BIOS file to give us what we want...

You can't see the problem if you sit - let's say - in some kind of conference and your netbook starts peeping, because it thinks you really need to get to know that your battery won't run for the next 3 weeks?

And also some people already upgraded. So is there anybody who could discharge it to 10% and tell me if it's doing bad things then?

Oh, and another thing - it's Dell's problem if it breaks, not mine. If everyone updated and sent back a broken netbook they might probably think of better testing their software next time... Problems like that really suck...

I have noticed that the bootup time for the bios is a little quicker. Apart from that i dont see anything they've done. Probably some minor optimizes and some bug fixes we haven't found!

Same here.....bootime for bios is faster....besides that...nothing else......

Also FYI for everyone....according to CPU-Z the date for this version is 10/28/2008.

I tried to boot in DOS off a usb stick and run the exe, but I get:

"This program cannot be run in DOS mode"

the Dell bios update download page states that this should work in DOS. Has anyone been able to get the A02 bios to update in DOS?

bios-upgrade-fails-t227s20.html#p7011

You have to use the phlash16.exe app and pass the command switch /x...

Flashing the BIOS in DOS takes about 30seconds...

Just updated myself, no problems at all. As jdizzle said too I haven't noticed any changed.
