Re: Anyone using nLite for smaller XP install? - 01-12-2009, 03:33 PM
To those of you who have used the nlited XP SP3 torrent: Did you install XP via USB stick? If so, can you list the steps you followed?
I tried to follow this guide: http://www.eeeguides.com/2007/11/ins...usb-thumb.html, but the nlited torrent apparently stripped out the "manual installation" files, which the USB_Prep8 script requires to set up the USB stick.
Yes, I know I could nlite my own copy of XP and leave the "manual installation" files intact, but I'm hoping to use the torrent as a shortcut.

I was able to do a successful nLite and USB install the other night. It took me a while to figure out but it got done I posted my entire experience with links to all information that I have personally tried (and was successful) on my blog http://tpinet.wordpress.com/2009/05/...eds-things-up/. I was able to install Windows with only 500MB usage and ~2.5GB usage once I got all the drivers, OpenOffice software, and all my other apps onto it. Not only do I have so much more room to play with but it is much faster now too. And yes...I posted my Last Session.ini for my nLite config.
