I've had a lot of success using Macrium Reflect Free. As the name implies, the software is freeware. Using a coworkers laptop that I had setup for her, I was able to pull off a 6.5GB image, compressed down to under 4GB in approximately 7-8 minutes. I was very impressed. http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp
If you're interested in other freeware applications, check out http://www.techsupportalert.com/. I find their recommendations to be very good.

Like HandHeld said, with Acronis True Image you can create a Bootable Rescue Media USB flash drive. That contains the Acronis program and I've had success with the Mini 9 and Mini 10 booting several brands of USB keys with the Bootable Rescue Media on them.
I can fit the complete XP factory installation (either my Mini 9 or Mini 10) on a 4GB flash drive and if necessary, boot from the USB flash drive and restore everything in four or five minutes. A larger flash drive could be used for the base image as well as Incremental Backups which can be selected to bring you right back to the date of the backup you select. Be aware of partition alignment when restoring images. Here's more on alignment:
Alternatively, you can get the System Restoration CDs (SRCDs) from Dell, put them on a USB flash drive (for XP they will all fit on a 2GB flash drive) and restore the computer to the way it left the factory (much like the D:\RECOVERY partition is used to restore the factory image on Dell Desktops and Notebooks). Here's more info. on the SRCDs:
XPS 420|XPS 420|M1330: Windows 7 x64, Windows 8-8102
M1330: Quad boot: Windows 7 x64, XP Pro x64, Ubuntu, Media Direct
Mini 9: Black, 2GB, 1.3MP Cam, BT, Runcore 32, Windows 7
Mini 10: Black, Z530, Intel 5100 WiFi, OCZ Vertex SSD, XP Pro & Windows 7 (sold)
Mini10v: 2GB, OCZ Vertex, Intel 5100, Windows 7

Would you do me a big favor and outline the steps for this. I installed Reflect Free and created a backup of my entire C drive on the mini which ends in a filename of *.mrimg. The file is located on a 16gig USB drive.
What I need to be able to do is boot from the USB drive, start up Reflect and restore the image.
I also have unetboot-windows-323 on my other PC.
I see an option within Reflect to create a boot CD but nothing for a USB drive.
Overall I think I have all that I need but I'm not quite sure how to create the boot USB with Reflect on it. I imagine that after I accomplish this I copy the Reflect image I previously created over to the USB drive so it's available for restoration.
THanks to you and anyone else that jumps in for this question.
