Default End of life - 05-05-2009, 02:37 PM

Just talked to a Dell Account Manager, who told me that the Vostro A90 is going End of life soon, I will try to find out if the same goes for the Mini 9, if yes, then I believe the new Mini's are here soon

Maybe that roadmap is pretty much correct afterall, what do you think ?

Wow, aren't people who ordered when they debuted still waiting for their A90's?

If the roadmap does come true (and I personally expect that it will) what does that mean for trying to pick up a mini9 in the outlet? I want to run OSX and I'm currently trying to decide whether to get a 9 off the outlet now or wait and see what the new atom n +950 chipset mini 10 will look like. But the longer I wait, the more I wonder if I'm going to get stiffed on the mini 9 if it turns out the new 10's are too pricey/won't run osx after all. Last week there were pages and pages of mini 9's on the outlet, but this week the stock has dwindled to 30 systems, and the price for the base ones (8gig ssd, 512 ram) has gone up something like $30. Anyone have any advice or know what happens to systems in the outlet when their sold-new conterparts reach end of life?

I think the outlet has shrunk as well because of the 15% off coupons lately; last saturday you could get a barebones mini9 for 186 so im sure those got snapped up quick.

However, I too hope that the roadmap is correct because I want a mini 10v and didn't buy the mini9 this weekend in the hopes that it's correct.

I would wait to buy anything until something is announced, I would expect sometime in May, few people know for sure. I want to buy a mini 9 or 10 soon too, but I think it's best to wait a while.

I snatched up the mini 9 because I plan on upgrading it and running OS X. As much as my wife wants one now too, I think we're going to wait and see what the new models will be like since she's more of a Windows user than I am.

I will give it a week or so, then I'll order the Mini 9 if nothing else happens.

I received a mail pamphlet from dell, advertising their computers, and on the back was a mini 10v, with the same internal parts as the mini 9 (gma 950, Atom N270), but in the mini 10's body with the larger keyboard and screen.

It was advertised as $300 with 1 GB RAM and a 120 GB hard drive. Looks like a pretty nice computer, and I might consider it since it has the much better keyboard and larger screen. Plus, a regular hard drive, not the PCIE SSD on the mini 9.

It isn't up on dell's website yet, though, but I'll keep checking.

Red Mini 9 - 2 GB Mushkin RAM, 32 GB Super Talent, 1.3 MP Camera,
Snow Leopard 10.6

Inspiron E1505 1.6 Ghz Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, Intel GMA 950, 80 GB HDD, Leopard 10.5.8

Help me with Dropbox, please: https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTE2ODgzMzE5

Thanks for the info! Did they mention the screen resolution? Or the option of upgrading to the HD screen?

I gave in a bought a mini 9 on the outlet yesterday because I know it'll run OSX just fine. But if it turns out that everything on the 10v is the same (ie wifi, audio i/o, speakers, sleep all work in OSX) ANDI can get the HD screen, I'll probably upgrade and sell the mini 9 or give it to my girlfriend. The leaked roadmap, however, showed 2 mini 10's, and I wouldn't be surprised if the HD screen was reserved for the more expensive, but non-gma 950 model. If I'm stuck with the lower resolution screen of the current base level mini 10 on the new 10v, forget it.

Any chance you could scan a picture? That would rock if the mini 10v came out this week as planned, that's what I am waiting for
