My dell mini 9 Specs:
OS: Ubuntu 8.04 w/ current updates
Hard drive: 4gig
I heard that ubuntu was snappier/faster than winxp, which why I tried it out. However, it hasn't been the case. I am also using an Acer aspire one w/160gig hd, 1gigram, and it appears that the acer is performing better, faster. The only drawback of xp I've noticed is that I have to reboot the computer when it has been on the entire night downloading. It gets sluggish.
I am currently running the ubuntu 8.04 with all the updates and I've noticed that while using firefox 3.0, there is a slight lag when you first load up the page, then everything is fast after that. The slight lag wouldn't be a problem if it were a split second, however it feels like a full 1 or 2 second lag, which is very annoying. Is this because of the SSD
I also tested ubuntu netbook remix 9.04. Everything works out of the box. However, I had to reinstall it a twice because of display problem. I connected my 19inch lcd to it and the display got messed up. I also had problems with flash player online. I will switch back once these problems are fixed.
When using the mini 9, I look for only performance and stability. is the OSX much better than ubuntu? (in terms of no annoying lag issue while surfing web, it doesn't get sluggish when you leave it on for a week, plus it's fast and snappy?).
