Default Switch User not working - 11-08-2008, 02:31 AM

I created 2 user accounts; one for me and one for my wife. Clicking Start/Log Off brings up the Switch User/Log Off dialog bix but clicking Switch User does nothing. Does this work for anyone?

Are you referring to "Fast User Switching"?
This relies on the following Windows Services to run.
"Terminal Services" and "Fast User Switching Compatibility Service"
IIRC these were set to "Disabled" in the default setup on my Mini. Your call, but the resource strapped mini is probably better off without these running and 2 users logged on at the same time. Anyway if you want you can run services.msc from the Run... command and un-disable these services. Terminal Services depends on the "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" service running but that should already be running.

Oddly enough, it didn't work when I first got the machine, but works fine for me now. I didn't adjust any of the Fast User Switching settings, so I tend to believe that something in the FUS activity was timing out. Try clearing out crud to speed up the system and try again.
