Post 64G SSD option from Dell, no longer going to be an option - 04-16-2009, 07:10 PM

I've been buying 64G versions of the Mini and reselling on Ebay (insert boos here). Love me or hate me for doing this, it is a way to turn a bit of a profit to support my computer buying habit. That said, I have a business account with Dell and wanted to find out what kind of a deal I could get on a bulk purchase (25) mini's with 64G SSD drives. I was told (and supposedly this rep verified) that the 64G SSD option for the Dell Mini 9 will no longer be an option going forward. Just wanted to pass along the info, take it for what you will.

if they can only sell it with linux (and that's only what i've heard) then there may not be sufficient volume of linux units to warrant an additional part stock, add SKU.

Are the 64GB models really going for enough to turn a profit off of? If so I may sell mine and go with a base model that I can upgrade for cheap. LOL!

If this is true, I tend to agree with SkyWriter. They probably just can't make them in large enough amounts to warrant their making. I mean, the drives will obviously only fit in the Mini 9, only in Linux machines, and only for those customer willing to pay that amount of money. In the end, that doesn't amount to many. It wouldn't surprise me.

So that's why it took me five weeks to get my 64GB Mini 9. Thanks a lot.
