great place to look up wallpapers, click a picture to view it, then enlarge it, then right click "set as background"

easy easy lemon squeezy.

I rendered one up. What collection would be complete without a fractal desktop image?

It's not compressed so the gnarly detail is better preserved. Say no to boring landscape shots on the desktop.

(warning! 1.75 MB file size - 1024 x 600)

Here is the desktop wallpaper that I just co-created.
The original image is from a band out of Savannah, Georgia called Baroness. The groups guitarist/vocalist, John Baizley, also does the artwork for the band and it is quite striking! You can check out the band(I love their latest, "Red Album") and see some more of his artwork at http://www.myspace.com/yourbaroness.
I must admit that I took a little bit of a liberty with this piece, changing the color of the image and taking out the band name(I hope they don't mind too much). I then created the background with a design based upon the leaves in the halo around the girl. I then added a fade on the left and right edges so that desktop icons are easier to see since a lot of users keep icons to either the far left or right.
Oh, I must add that this was done with The Gimp and Inkscape under Ubuntu 8.10. Also, I liked it so much I am having a skin made for my Mini with this piece. I'll post it to the other thread when I get it in place.

Enjoy!,

A slight crop of an image from jasonchanart.com - although I've since realised this rather clumsily crops the end of his URL watermark so I might have to do something about that. Still experimenting with Gnome-do and the Docky theme for it too.
