Default Webkinz on Netbook Solution .... - 04-01-2009, 08:46 PM

Many have been disappointed that kids can not run Webkinz
on a netbook due to the screen not having enough resolution,
Webkinz needs 768 lines and most netbooks have only 600.

Here's an easy solution, no drivers to install, just use Firefox 3.

1) Install firefox 3:

2) Copy and paste the webkinz app address below, directly in the address bar: ... aol=0&fs=0
Save a bookmark to the site.

3) Now just make the web window full screen, by selecting View/Full Screen from the firefox menu bar.
Login and your set. Unlike other browsers with Firefox 3 you'll now have a vertical scroll bar
at the side to so users can see all of the screen as needed.

This works with Windows 7 on the Dell Mini 9 and should with XP and Vista and many netbooks too.
Let me know how it goes...

What I did for my son's and my neice's netbook is create a web page that pulled in the webkinz website with scrollbars. It works with IE, so now they don't have to download firefox or have to use full screen to see the website.

Hope this helps!

This is awesome! Thank you so much for the excellent workarounds!

My daughter was so deeply disappointed that she couldn't play webkinz on her brand new netbook. I spent hours searching for solutions with no luck.

I am most appreciative to your sharing these solutions openly and freely with all.

It worked! I too, have Acers for the kids (sorry, got a great deal!) and they were highly disappointed in the Webkinz issue. This worked like a charm! The slider bar is a big help. Still wouldn't mind getting it all on the screen, but the kids are happy so I am too.

Firefox also has the ability to zoom in and out of the webpage.
This might work to fit the webkinz site all on one screen minus the scroll bars.
