Default Difference between Model "2A" and "3" - 03-22-2009, 03:38 PM

Hi there,

just a short question: when I configure my Mini9 on the German Dell website (, there are 4 different options at the moment.

There seems to be a difference in the model description: one says
Inspiron Mini 9 – (Deutschland, 3)
and the other one
Inspiron Mini 9 – (Deutschland, 2 A)

So is there already a revision of the Mini9?

The only variations in base hardware that we've seen in the U.S. are wether the motherboard has the WWAN header and SIM slot soldered to it or not.

From the little I can tell (I don't speak German and barely read it), it looks like there is only a limited amount of customization that you can do on the German site (versus the U.S., unless I missed a configuration button). My guess is that those model numbers are just "pre-configured" choices (like going to a deli and ordering a #2 off the menu board).

Have you tried asking on the German language board (

Dell Mini 9 - Cherry Red. 2GB RAM, 64GB RunCore, BlueTooth, 10.6.7 (working on getting 10.6.8 'working' )

That's what I thought at first too.

But if you look at the two Windows XP models on the right, they have identical hardware, but different pricings...I don't get it. I might give Dell a ring today to get this answered.

You're right, there's nothing to customize in Germany, we just have the 16Gig/Bluetooth/Webcam model when you want XP on it.
