Hey has anyone tried AutoHotKey for remapping the keyboard? http://autohotkey.com

I have my Mini on order so I can't try AutoHotKey yet. I use AutoHotKey on all my other computers and I can't live without it. I think this free application might be just the thing for the Mini 9 keyboard. It is more of a Macro app, but it can certainly do re-mapping as well. You shoudl cehck it out.

I am using AutoHotKey on my mini and it works just the same as on my Vista Desktop. Basically it work GREAT, Perfectly and is incredibly easy to script.

AutoHotKey is a free application. I have been using it for more than a year and could not live without it. You can get it at:
http://www.autohotkey.com/

While AutoHotKey can be used to simply remap the keyboard, it can do oh so much more.

I have attached a simple example AutoHotKey script that you can use as is. It have several advanced features that took me a while to figure out. It should give you clear examples of how to do global remapping as well as application specific remapping and complex macros. I really like Application Sensitive hot keys so I can create macros specific to a program. It come is great with the browser where you can have the same hot key work the same across various browsers or have the same code for a specific web across various browsers.

OS: Windows XP

I used AutoHotKey to remap the ;/: and '/" keys. Took a while because I had problems getting the script to run the way it should (explained below) and I had to search the AHK web site for the answer. These two lines will remap both unshifted and shifted keys:

`;::'
'::;

You can cut-and-paste these into the default script.

Notice that the first line begins with a ` so the program won't ignore the line. That's what it would do because lines beginning with ; aren't executed and are used for adding comments to a script.

Create a shortcut for the default .ahk file and put it in your startup folder so it runs and loads the script.

Because I ordered and received the other keyboard, I had to "unmap" my keys. I found this method was the easiest way and since I didn't see it posted in the thread I thought I'd add it here.

So, if you've mapped your keyboard and now want to just "undo" all that mapping and go back to how XP installed, but you cannot find the language bar any more... do the following:

To erase the mapped keyboard:
1. Open Control Panel
2. Go to "Regional and Language Options"
3. click the "Languages" tab
4. click the "Details" button
5. You should see two installed keyboards... If you don't then STOP HERE AND DO NOT PROCEED.
6. Highlight the "US (Custom)" installed keyboard and click "remove" (!warning! if you don't see the one you added, or only see a single keyboard installed *STOP* and ask someone for help... don't want you to render your Mini-9 keyboardless)
7. You'll get a message saying "can't delete the keyboard currently in use until you reboot" or something like that.
8. Reboot

Weird...
I've got a UK keyboard which is not allowing me to use the @ key. It just shows the apostrophe, causing me trouble because it's a fairly crucial key. I don't really understand the keyboard creator or what i would need to do to make my @ key work.

Setting keyboard matrix
1. Turn off your computer
2. If your computer is connected to the ac adapter, disconnect the ac adapter from the computer
3. Press and hold the following key combination for the desired keyboard matrix :
_ United States : <Fn><S>
_ United Kingdom : <Fn><K>
_ Japan : <Fn><J>
_ Korea : <Fn><E>
4. Connect the ac adapter to the computer then plug it into a wall outlet or surge protector
5. Release the key combination

I just had to change the Regional settings and that did the trick. So after a lot of anxiety, very easy to fix.
