1. The Dell service tag (seven characters, numbers and letters) is the unit's serial number. You can look up warranty info and original build inventory at support.dell.com. They are somewhat sequential, if you buy large numbers of units you can see a pattern, but there's no simple way to just look at a tag and figure out it's age.
2. Not appreciably. If you think there's a chance you'll need it, get it integrated.
3. Depending on the speed of the Celeron M, it should outperform the Atom. Additional RAM will obviously help he Atom though.
