Default Re: Which Anti-Virus for the Mini? - 01-02-2009, 05:24 PM

My Mini came with McAfee, but that stopped functioning, and, based on various reports, I uninstalled it. I've had bad experiences with Norton, so that wasn't a choice. I had used AVG free on other machines, with mixed results, and have heard from my brother that Kapersky was a resource hog.

I've been running Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 on my destop, and it works fine, so I installed it on my Mini. It doesn't seem to slow my Mini down. The 2009 version has pretty good reviews. I know it's not freeware, but you can get it for free after rebate with the purchase of any tax software, and it allows you to install the program on 3 PCs. Just my two cents.

I put AVG Free 7.5 on my mini 9. Version 7.x has a small footprint compared to version 8 which is when the software got bloated. If you only check your email through the browser then exclude the email scanner when you install.
