Default Test your hardware latency (Windows) - 02-08-2009, 05:22 AM

I have seen alot of people on this forum having problems with youtube/hulu performance. This is a great tool for gauging how well your Dell Mini can play streaming video. I am in the green 98% of the time, but it seems like it spikes when my SSD has to write. I have a STEC and I'd like to know if a runcore makes a difference.

I've used this tool on my high powered desktop computers to resolve streaming video or stuttering problems, and I have always narrowed it down to a driver issue and been able to correct it one way or another. I am wondering if the same is possibly true for the Mini or if it just the nature of the beast. I'd really like to see your results.

Ive watched streaming video on my mini-9 with no problems. Mostly its flash (.flv) but its also been (.avi) and (.mov) all work very well on there. I think by installing the latest codecs and software from the sites the user frequents, its possible to get very good results.

Sites I go to are Youtube, Hulu and Veoh. Sometimes it plays kinda weird (sound out of sync, video skipping, ect) so I use another computer and if it still plays weird, its generally the video and not my computer or connection. Its what I tell myself anyway and move on to another video.
