ok so im getting my mini today!! im excited!! my question is, how long do i have to charge the battery when i get it? overnight? and what should i do as far as speeding it up, updates, and deleting useless programs from the factory? thanks in advance, i cant wait!!!! |

Search the various forums for your answers. As for charging I think I read last night its 90 minutes while powered off, 2.5 hours while powered on. |

but are you supposed to charge the battery overnight the first time? like a cell phone? im new to this, i just thought for all batteries you should charge it extra long the first time |

Well, according to the Dell Forums, first time charge is 12 hours! Dell Inspiron Mini 9 - battery not working - DELL COMMUNITY Chief Blogger Lionel Menchaca gives two tips: 1. Update Bios to A04. 2. The first time you charge it, leave it plugged in for 12 hours. (I assume without use) Another thing is Ubuntu users, make sure that the computer is not in Airplane mode as it seems the battery does not charge even if connected to AC in that mode. |

It does not take 12 hours, even if the battery was fully drained. Most people find that the battery is full on receipt. Mini 9|2GB RAM|64GB RunCore|Intel 5300|Windows 8 |

Ah, yes, you're right -- the '12 hour' charge thing is about batteries that need pre-charge -- batteries unused for so long that they no longer have a charge ("below 0%" as Dell explains, however unusual that sounds). I'm charging my battery for the first time now. When I plugged it in to check before charging, it had about a quarter of battery life left (54 mins on OSX), not fully charged. I'm guessing a normal charge will suffice in this circumstance. Sorry for my wrong info earlier. |

Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I'd suggest charging it until the power light goes off...which is the battery's way of saying "I'm full, thank you!!!"  Grats on the purchase!! As you can see on this site...there are tons of people happier than a puppy with two peter's with their own Minis...so welcome to the club!!! |
