I'm have the same error message, but it does not go away with time or any type of powering down/restarting. Running WinXP with 16gig SSD
. No modding done or anything fancy. Problem started over the weekend, I downloaded pictures off my Canon XTi, before sorting through them I went to put my camera back into it's case. Came back to the computer to find it sitting there with a black screen up. Would not wake up, when I restarted it I got the "Operating System Not Found" message. Talked to Dell tech support, tried several things with them, no luck, sent me a new SSD
with the standard factory XP install. Plugged that in today, exact same message, going to call them back after I get off work today. Both my old drive and the new one are visible in the setup menu that can be accessed with the 2 key at the beginning of the boot sequence. But nothing happens. Tried using my external USB cd drive to boot from the WinXP disc, and no luck there either. Drive spins up and then gives me the same error message. I am definitely unhappy about this, lost data is bad news bears for me. I hope they can help me resolve this or if anyone else has suggestions I am open to anything. Can't get any worse at this point.
