Default Hacked dell needing help ... - 01-14-2012, 10:19 AM

Like many others, I bought a mini 9 when it came out so that I could put a copy of osx on to it (as shown on gizmodo) .... it was fun at the time, but obviously computers have come a long way since then.

Now I would like to put jolicloud on it, and hand it down to my son so he can use it to surf etc. As I am hoping it will be less sluggish with Jolicloud on it.

My Questions are, is there anything I need to do to get jolicloud onto it?
I tried to do the USB stick thing to test it out, but it doesnt seem to work ?

So I am contemplating formatting the harddrive and just trying to put it on there.
Is there anything I need to know? or face any potential problems?

Also, since jolicloud has updated allot since many of the original articles ... will it work?
or do i need to install the old old old version and hopes it updates itself?

Cheers

Most Linux distros will just install normally. There may be an option in the install to delete any existing partitions, which you should use.

Did you put your 'USB stick thing' in the USB port that is right beside the power plug?

For "USB sticks" it doesn't need to be in a particular slot - that is a tip for USB hard drives and CD/DVD drives.

Make sure that "Legacy USB" is enabled in the BIOS, otherwise you can't boot from USB. Many people disable that if they're running OS X.

You are right. I just tried 10.04 in both of the other ports (on the battery) & the trial option works perfectly. Thanks for the correct information.
