Just follow the instructions of this fantastic post and maybe you can have your Dell back in action. STEC 8GB SSD 0MB in BIOS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi. Last week, a friend gave me a Dell Inspiron 910, aka Mini 9, saying that it was dead. For my surprise when I get home and pressed the Power Button it starts But immediately, I notice that there was no OS, the netbook refuses to start from ssd. And this is where my quest as begun.Lucky for me I've found this cool forum and start reading post's after post's, and the conclusion was obvious... Dead SSD. On Bios it detect the SSD but with 0MB. So I wonder if this little fellow can boot from a USB Flash or External HDD, and run the OS from there, and for my luck the answer has YEESS ![]() .
Final Dell's Setup - 2Gb Sodimm - Intel wifi - 1Gb MMC (for swap linux partition) - 16GB OCZ ATV Pendrive (Aprox 37Mb/Read 20Mb Write) A fast Flash is very important !!!! - Ubuntu 11.04 (it have a native VGA drivers for Mini 9) - Firefox with disable hdd cache and use only system memory cache. Well for those who have an broken SSD and don't want to buy an SSD, with an pendrive you can put for dell back in action !!! Regards, Rui |

But immediately, I notice that there was no OS, the netbook refuses to start from ssd. And this is where my quest as begun.
, the 11.10 doesn't come it a compatible Intel 500 driver, from what i've read it is because of the new kernel or gnome.
, VGA check, sound check, wifi check, battery management check, So I've found the gold for my Dell with no SSD.
