Default Why 39 MB vs. 70 MB Dell partition size - 01-16-2009, 06:55 PM

I purchased a Mini 9 XP last December and it had a Dell partition (first partition on SDD) of about 39
MB (9 MB used). I have seen two Refurbished Mini 9 units that were purchased in January that have
Dell partitions of about 70 MB (9 MB used).

My questions are:

1) Is this difference due to New vs. Refurbished units?

2) Is this difference due to December vs. January units?

3) Does anyone know why the difference?

Thanks for any info you can provide

Probably just a convenience factor for Dell; more room to play with depending on what they use it for. I always delete the mbr on any manufactured computer I reinstall windows on, just like replacing the hard drive. The restore feature of these manufacturers put so much crap ware on the computer that cause it to run real slow. Alot of it isn't even used by most people, and who really needs alot of trial ware or five or more ISP offers. Around here, there are only two high speed providers, so why do I need Sprint, AOL or any of the others. Open Office is also a much better deal than MS Office, alot cheaper too.

Most likely the process is different at one dell plant then the other dell plant. the only thing the hidden partition is used for is for dell 32 bit diagnostics and MP memory test. these can be updated by the user, but the difference is size is big.
