Default better for extra storage? ext HD or 16GB USB stick - 01-28-2011, 11:23 AM

I currently have an external HD that I use to store iPhone's SDK (since it doesnt fit in the 16GB SSD. Mainly use (and seldom use it - but plan to use it more often) as a desktop (not mobile) computer.

I also recently purchased a 16GB USB stick which I thought would be more portable (and have been thinking to use it to store the iPhone SDK instead of the portable HD).

Any pro/cons with either setup?

It seems to me that using a USB stick will allow me to be portable (although I cannot imagine writing code in such a small keyboard and screen).

How are you using your extra USB, external HD?

I keep a 16GB SD card in the slot and use that to store some extra things for reference, though I have a 64GB SSD so have plenty of space. I use USB sticks for moving files, not as external storage.

I've got a 32GB SSD. I also keep a 16GB SD card in the slot. use it for music files. It's just a cheap class 2 card, but that's plenty fast enough for music.

The biggest pro to a 16GB stick will be portability. The biggest pro to an external hard drive is that even the cheapest available will offer hundreds of gigabytes more storage.
