I recently ordered, received and tested out a dell mini battery charger from mlcomp.com:
External Battery Charger (Standalone) for Dell Inspiron mini 9 series laptop rat External Battery Charger Laptop, External Battery Charger NoteBook, Charger for Spare Battery
It worked on both the original dell mini battery that came with the computer and the extended battery I bought from ebay. The connection to the battery is a little unstable -- you need to make sure the battery won't get moved around while charging. It also didn't start charging up my completely drained battery that I hadn't used for a month. I plugged the battery into the dell mini, booted up, verified that the dell mini claimed to be charging it. Then immediately removed it from the dell mini, attached it back to the external battery charger and it started charging this time. When the red led turned off on the charger, I put the battery back in the dell mini and confirmed that the battery had charged to 100%.
I've been waiting for this accessory since the day I got my dell mini. I have an external charger for my toshiba laptop batteries and had gotten use to the convenience of never having to plug in my laptop -- just swap spare batteries at my charging station.

My Toshiba laptop battery charger lists for $250: Toshiba Battery Charger with Integrated AC Adapter - Toshiba
I paid between $100 and $200 for that one. Though it does charge two batteries at once.
I take charged spare batteries with me in my purse. Then I can swap to a new one while on the run. When I get home, I just take the discharged (or mostly discharged) spare from my purse and swap it with the one sitting at home on the charger. This routine requires 3 batteries. My laptop accessories end up costing more than the laptop, but the convenience is extreme (I do the same with my cell phone and camera batteries: 3 batteries and an external charger, almost never charging through the device itself).
Now that I have this external charger, I'm even thinking of getting a backup dell mini, I fear mine dying after there really are no more for sale.
