Default Stuck on one screen resolution - 05-13-2010, 08:13 PM

Hey all, thanks in advance for the help!

I just received my dad's Dell Mini 9 (he hadn't used it in 6 months, and my laptop was going out). Of course the first thing that I did was reformat the HD (installed Windows XP).

One of the problems is my screen is now stuck at 800X600. When I go to make the screen a higher resolution (native is 1024X600) it won't let me (the slider won't move at all). I have Windows XP SP3 with all updates applied, and I have applied all Dell drivers (I installed the drivers before I updated the computer, IE: it was a fresh install of SP2 when I updated all drivers).

I have attached two screen shots. One is the direct screen shot, which is at 800X600. The other is what it looks like to me, IE: I stretched the first screen shot to 1024X600. Notice how the Recycle Bin looks stretched.

Any ideas on how to fix this, to allow me to choose 1024X600?

Well, I decided to give installing drivers another try. I downloaded them from here: Drivers for Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (910)

And now it works! I know no one directly answered my question, but still helped me! Thanks!
